Whether you are a UK expat wanting to stay connected to your home country's television, or a household enjoying global entertainment, configuring your streaming device correctly is the key to a smooth IPTV experience. This guide covers every major device type with specific steps for each.
Before You Begin: What You Need
- Your IPTV credentials — server URL, username, and password from PROTVHUB (or your free trial activation)
- Your streaming device powered on and connected to the internet
- Your IPTV app of choice installed (TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, or your device's native player)
- Your home Wi-Fi password, or an Ethernet cable for a wired connection
Wired is better: For international content and channels with high bitrates, an Ethernet connection delivers more stable performance than Wi-Fi. If your device supports Ethernet, use it.
Configuring an Amazon Firestick
The Firestick requires IPTV Smarters (available in the Amazon App Store) or TiviMate (requires sideloading via the Downloader app). Detailed steps are in our Firestick IPTV guide.
- Install IPTV Smarters: Press the search icon on your Firestick home screen, type "IPTV Smarters Pro", and install it from the results
- Open and add your account: Launch IPTV Smarters → "Add New User" → "Xtream Codes API"
- Enter credentials: Type in your PROTVHUB server URL, username, and password exactly as shown in your welcome email
- Save and wait: Tap "Add User" and allow 60–90 seconds for your 26,000+ channels to load
- Browse by country: Navigate to Live TV → Categories to browse channels by country or genre
Configuring an Android TV Box
Android TV boxes offer more flexibility than Firestick and are particularly good for 4K international content. TiviMate is the recommended app.
- Install TiviMate from the Google Play Store
- Open TiviMate → "Add Playlist" → "Xtream Codes API"
- Enter your PROTVHUB server address, username, and password
- Click Next to authenticate and load your playlist
- Customise channel groups: go to Settings → Groups and choose which country/genre groups to show
- Enable EPG: Settings → EPG → Auto-update every 24 hours
Configuring a Smart TV
Smart TV configuration varies by manufacturer. For Samsung and LG, follow the steps in our Smart TV IPTV setup guide. For Sony (Android TV) and similar Google TV devices:
- Install IPTV Smarters Pro from the Google Play Store on your TV
- Open the app and select "Login with Xtream Codes API"
- Enter your PROTVHUB credentials and save
- Navigate to "Live TV" and select a channel group (UK, Arabic, South Asian, etc.) to browse
Configuring a MAG Box
MAG boxes use a portal-based configuration system, different from app-based players.
- Press Menu on your MAG remote → Settings → System Settings
- Navigate to "Servers" → "Portals"
- Enter your PROTVHUB portal URL in the Portal URL 1 field (provided in your welcome email)
- Save and reboot your MAG box
- After reboot, your channels will load automatically through the portal
Organising Channel Groups by Country and Language
PROTVHUB's 26,000+ channels are organised into logical groups by country and genre. Within your IPTV app:
- UK channels: BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky equivalents, plus regional channels
- Arabic channels: MBC, Al Jazeera, Dubai TV, Saudi channels, Egyptian channels, and more
- South Asian channels: Zee TV, Sony TV, Star Plus, ARY Digital, Hum TV, Geo TV, and more
- Turkish channels: TRT, Kanal D, ATV, Show TV, Star TV
- European channels: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, and other country groups
You can customise which groups appear in your main channel list. In TiviMate, go to Settings → Groups and tick only the regions you want visible.
Setting Up the EPG for International Channels
The Electronic Programme Guide works for international channels too — though EPG data availability varies by channel region. UK channels and the most popular international channels typically have full EPG data. To enable:
- TiviMate: Settings → EPG → Enable EPG loading → Set update interval to 24 hours
- IPTV Smarters: Menu → EPG Settings → Enable auto-refresh
Once enabled, your programme guide will populate with information for all channels that have EPG data available. Ready to explore global television? Start your PROTVHUB free trial and access 150+ countries' worth of channels immediately.
