TiviMate is widely regarded as the best IPTV player for Firestick and Android TV. Its polished interface, excellent EPG, and smooth performance make it the top choice for UK IPTV users. This complete guide covers everything from initial installation to advanced configuration.
Installing TiviMate
TiviMate is available on both Amazon Firestick and Android TV devices:
On Amazon Firestick
Search for 'TiviMate' in the Amazon App Store. The app is available directly — no sideloading or developer mode required. Install and open.
On Android TV / Google TV
Open the Google Play Store, search 'TiviMate', and install. Works on Nvidia Shield, Sony Bravia, Chromecast with Google TV, and all Android TV devices.
Free vs Premium
TiviMate has a free version with core features. TiviMate Premium (approximately £3.99/year) adds: multiple playlist support, recording, parental controls, custom player, and additional settings. The free version works well for basic use.
Adding Your PROTVHUB Playlist
This is the most important step. Follow it carefully:
- Open TiviMate and tap Add Playlist on the welcome screen (or go to Settings → Playlists → Add Playlist)
- Select Xtream Codes API — this is the recommended option for PROTVHUB
- Enter a name (e.g. 'PROTVHUB')
- Enter the Server URL from your welcome email (format: http://yourserver.com:port)
- Enter your Username and Password
- Tap Next
- TiviMate will validate your credentials and load your channel list
Important: Copy credentials exactly as provided. The server URL must include the port number. Contact PROTVHUB support if you receive an authentication error.
Configuring EPG (Electronic Programme Guide)
The EPG shows you what is on now and what is coming up across all channels. To configure it:
- Go to Settings → EPG
- Your EPG URL should be auto-populated from your Xtream Codes login. If not, enter the XMLTV URL from your welcome email
- Set EPG Refresh to 'Every 12 Hours'
- Tap Force Update to load the EPG immediately
The EPG may take a few minutes to fully load on first use. Once loaded, you will see programme information across all channels in the guide view.
Setting Up Favourites & Groups
TiviMate's group and favourites system lets you organise your 26,000+ channels into manageable collections:
Create Custom Groups
Go to Settings → Channels → Groups. Here you can hide categories you do not watch and reorder the remaining groups to your preference.
Add Channel Favourites
Navigate to any channel, press and hold (or use the context menu), and select Add to Favourites. Your Favourites group appears at the top of the channel list for instant access.
Enable Catch-Up
In the EPG, press and hold on any past programme to access its catch-up recording. Ensure catch-up is enabled in Settings → Catch-Up.
Advanced TiviMate Tips & Settings
These settings make a significant difference to your TiviMate experience:
Player Settings
Go to Settings → Player. For most Firestick users, ExoPlayer gives the best performance. If you experience issues, try switching to Software Player or enabling Hardware Acceleration.
Buffer Size
Increase the buffer size in Player settings to reduce interruptions during live streams. A buffer of 5,000–10,000ms works well for most connections.
Screen Lock
If you have children, use TiviMate Premium's parental controls to lock adult-category channels with a PIN code.
